Water deficit in the soybean breeding

چکیده

The climate unpredictability causes long periods of drought, becoming the main risk factor in soybeans production fields and consequent losses to farmers Brazil worldwide. As sessile organisms, plants are constantly challenged by a wide range environmental stresses, including drought. Growth constraints stress due these changes result reduced yield significant harvesting losses. response abiotic stresses is very complex phenomenon, since several stages plant development can be affected particular often affect simultaneously. In order mitigate damages caused climate, new soybean cultivars adapted drought diversified necessary, as well technological advances that must advance with increase cultivated area. Therefore, mechanisms underlying tolerance adaptation have been focus intensive research. this sense, objective review provide an overview evolution genetic improvement regarding search for more drought-tolerant cultivars, verify which strategies used genotypes.

Breeding Science Special Issue: Soybean breeding in genomic era

Soybean is one of the world’s most important crops, offering a stable source of materials for food, feed, industrial, and pharmaceutical applications. Soybean seeds contain a high content of nutritious protein and oil, and assume an important part of traditional foods in many Asian countries, including Japan. They are also abundant in physiologically active metabolites and functional proteins, ...

Subtractive libraries for prospecting differentially expressed genes in the soybean under water deficit

Soybean has a wide range of applications in the industry and, due to its crop potential, its improvement is widely desirable. During drought conditions, soybean crops suffer significant losses in productivity. Therefore, understanding the responses of the soybean under this stress is an effective way of targeting crop improvement techniques. In this study, we employed the Suppressive Subtractiv...

Polysomes, Messenger RNA, and Growth in Soybean Stems during Development and Water Deficit.

The polysome status and populations of polysomal mRNA were examined in different regions of dark-grown soybean (Glycine max [L.] Merr.) stems that contained either dividing, elongating, or mature (nongrowing) cells. There was a developmental gradient of polysome content in which the dividing tissue had the highest levels and the mature tissue the lowest. A few hours after transplanting the seed...

Investigation of Water Deficit Stress on Agronomical Traits of Soybean Cultivars in Temperate Climate

In order to investigate water deficit stress on 24 of soybean (Glycine Max. L) cultivars and lines in temperate climate, an experiment was conducted in Iran Seed and Plant Improvement Institute. Stress levels were irrigation after evaporation of 50, 100, 150 mm water from pan, class A. Randomized Completely Block Design was arranged for each stress levels. Some traits such as, node number, plan...
